Principles of Remote Sensing – Introduction to RS
Description: The principles of Remote Sensing courses introduce the essential concepts and techniques of remote sensing. They consist of two main parts; a theoretical part that focuses on the concepts, and a practical part that aims at developing hands-on skills in using some software packages tools; e.g. ERDAS Imagine.
The introductory level of the Principles of Remote Sensing courses will add knowledge about the remote sensing as a science with the physical background of electromagnetic energy and its use in the remote sensing. The vocabulary of the remote sensing and its terms will be defined and explained. In addition, this course will define the image acquisition process, and the different characteristics of the satellite images. The introductory course will illustrate some applications of remote sensing in various fields, and emphasise on the RS applications in water resources management.

Introduction to Geographic Information System (GIS) (ArcGIS Software)-L1
3-days on-line training course. This course is the first of a 2-level series, presents the fundamentals of GIS in general perspective. This course will introduce the participants to the state-of-the-art concepts and practices of GIS. It starts with the basics of GIS and subsequently methods and analysis using GIS analysis tools will be covered. This course is designed to give comprehensive understanding on the application of GIS in solving the research problems. Each concept is demonstrated, and participants are given hands-on exercises to apply what they have learned. Upon completion, the participants should be able to use GIS in their future research work.
