Description: The principles of Remote Sensing courses introduce the essential concepts and techniques of remote sensing. They consist of two main parts; a theoretical part that focuses on the concepts, and a practical part that aims at developing hands-on skills in using some software packages tools; e.g. ERDAS Imagine.
The introductory level of the Principles of Remote Sensing courses will add knowledge about the remote sensing as a science with the physical background of electromagnetic energy and its use in the remote sensing. The vocabulary of the remote sensing and its terms will be defined and explained. In addition, this course will define the image acquisition process, and the different characteristics of the satellite images. The introductory course will illustrate some applications of remote sensing in various fields, and emphasise on the RS applications in water resources management.
